It’s time for new and exciting challenges, but I do realise that I have been astonishingly fortunate to have played in one of the most exciting positions in the racing media for really quite a long time; it’s been enormous fun and a real privilege. So what's next I wonder?

Cornelius? You sound like you should be running in the 3:15, somebody once said to me. I may never have taken part in a horserace, but there’s still plenty of rough and tumble as the racing media goes a ‘right gallop’ from Cheltenham to Aintree, through flat racing’s Classics, Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood, York and onto the Arc and British Champions Day – and all points in between. For many years, I have been amongst the leaders of the pack, keeping listeners and readers entertained and informed about this most thrilling of sports; similar will follow in upcoming chapters.
